The most abundant elements making up the crust of the Earth are oxygen and silicon. They are found in many minerals but are solely bonded together in Quartz. It is the second most abundant mineral in the crust after Feldspar. This is a shot of a crystal of Quartz. The arrangement of atoms in the mineral give it a unique crystal shape.
