Locating The North Star

A slightly different take on our theme. This is a page from an astronomical star chart showing the location of the North Star (Polaris or Alpha Ursae Minoris) in relation to the North Celestial Pole. The two don't perfectly line up but Polaris is the closest to it so it gets the honor of being our North Star. Also notice that the chart shows that Polaris is a multiple star system. Technically it is three stars. Two of its stars can be seen in amateur telescopes.
