Monster Sunspot
I got up early this morning before the clouds moved in to get a shot of the huge sunspot that is currently visible on the surface of the sun. AR2192 is almost as large as the planet Jupiter and will be out of view in a few days as the sun rotates it away from the earth. The sun takes about 24.47 days to rotate once at the equator. Taken afocally through an Orion 25mm plossl eyepiece in an Orion 80mm refracting telescope using a Canon G15 camera and a mylar solar filter. The tint of the image was enhanced to give the sun a more natural color.
