String Lake
Perhaps my favorite morning in the Tetons this fall was the sunrise I spent on the shores of String Lake. It was one of those perfectly still mornings where the water of the lake was still as glass, light mist hung on the surface, and the early morning sun slowly lit up the distant face of Mt Moran with great warm alpenglow. Couldn't ask for more really and the sounds of bull elk calling from the pines across the lake and coyotes howling in the distance behind me made the experience pretty much perfect. Great for the soul...even if the sounds of some fairly large animal breaking branches in the woods behind me sorta freaked me out a tad. Never saw what that was and the noises were still occuring when I packed up to move back to the trailhead. It was probably a deer but my brain was turning it into a massive grizzly :)
Cheers!
