American Crocodile
An American crocodile lurking in the mangroves of the Sierpe River in Costa Rica. We took a personal birding tour with a nature guide one day when we visited CR back in January of '08. He spotted this big fellow and maneuvered the boat as close as he could. This was plenty close for me. So interesting how the teeth of his bottom jaw protrude through the top jaw. Life as wading bird in Costa Rica is not without danger. It has been bitterly cold here the past week or so. I have not been out much the camera. I am not as tough as my Canadian friends. :)
