Protein Sculpture Detail

This series of six photos summarizes the fact that my sculptures tell a different story depending upon which angle you look at them. The concept is to depict the shape and conformation of a protein. The reality reflects the functionality of proteins as well as their shape. They are incredibly flexible and variable. The sculpture was made with very thick terracotta (about as wide as I could squeeze between my hands), bisque fired solid, with pigment.
