Fault Line

Water fills this seismic fault in the hills near San Francisco. Northern California comprises a number of "mini-continents" that have been slamming against the North American Plate for millions of years. While the San Andreas fault is the most well-known seismic feature of California, the faults created by movement of many smaller land masses are widely evident from the air.
