Angiosperm venation

Look how these leaves seem to mimic the irregular pattern of streets in a suburban subdivision. If you look closely you'll see that the networks within networks get smaller and smaller so that ultimately, every cell of this leaf has access to water and nutrients.

 

This vein pattern is called "reticulate," meaning networked. It is characteristic of dicots, vs. monocots (like grasses, palms, lilies, etc.,), which have parallel venation.
