Double cherries

For a couple of weeks in May these trees put on a ridiculous show in sweet pink. Looking up from the sidewalk you see a mass of color that is just not duplicated anywhere. Almost as soon as they bloom the petals fall in masses of snowy pink drifts, and that's the end of the show for another year. Double cherries seem to be pretty hardy in Boston, but their life span is limited to about 20 years.
