Dramatic form

I took this picture in the Melbourne Botanical Garden in Australia. It is a showy member of the family Araliaceae, one that I don't see much in North American gardens. I think it would do very well in pots here, though i imagine it would not tolerate frost. The inflorescence looks like a sketch Charles Darwin made when he was diagramming an evolutionary tree. Perhaps it served as his inspiration!
