Spotted Owl

Here's an example of an individual toward the rufescent end of the color scale that I have seen. This is also a first year male. Notice the clean white rectrice tips. Not visible in this picture are a few adult rectrices. Apparently when one is lost within their first year due to fighting or poor landings (which is very common and highly comical) the feathers are replaced by adult feathers rather than another set of juvies.
