Over this weekend, I was able to plug a somewhat important gap in my collection.
Year ago, I learned that Medicom had released a few 1/6 Street Fighter figures. By this time, it was the Ultra SF4 line, so we got Chunl Li and Cammy. Cammy was new, but Chun Li 2.0 was supposed to be an apology for the 1.0, which had some shortcomings.
Well waaaay back in 2008, when I the idea of spending over $100 for a figure was Ludacris, the first Chun Li was released. Always kept an eye out for this one as becoming a 1/6 action figure Chun Li completist was exactly an impossible task.
The set was about 15,000 Yen and honestly doesn't come with much - the figure and an extra pair of hands (palms). I guess it also comes with a Base/Stand so I should probably mention that too.
Unlike the 2.0, the 1.0 doesn't have an official affiliation with any particular game. However, aesthetically, I'd say that they were going for the SF3: TS look. Well, at least the head is, as it very closely resembles the Kinu Nishimura art work for the character The head sculpt is actually quite nicely done. certainly more refined and elegant than the 2.0 release. It's also where most of the paint work on this figure is, with the other part of the being the boots.
The body is exactly like the 2.0. Upper body is kind of lanky but the legs showed some good musculature. Main torso is wrapped in rubber to help the body contours under the clothing but this unfortunately interferes with articulation. The outfit is nicely tailored and fits the body, and it's strangely the shoulder pads that interfere with shoulder rotation (can't point the arms upwards). Leg articulation is fundamental but it's all accessible.
As for Build, the body is quite light, but it isn't as fragile as I thought/remembered. But, given the age and difficulty to obtain a spare, I'd take it easy.
