Something I unearthed while doing some cleaning and prep work for future projects - Swimsuit Saber from Fate Hollow/Ataraxia.

This particular statue is from Clayz, who made that Rin Tohsaka statue I recently wrote a blurb on, and was lamenting that I had sold a companion Clayz piece. Guess it turns out I didn't actually sell it.

As with Rin, this figure was made using more budget friendly processes and materials, giving rise to what essentially is a economy 1/6 scale solid PVC statue, in a time when 1/6 scales were considered outrageous at almost $100 a piece. The pose, the stand, everything points towards a budget friendly piece. Finishes on the statue range from alright to rough, which again, is not surprising given the nature of the beast.

The only thing that would be a frill, as it were, is that Saber comes with a single accessory - a Kendo practice stick. Not sure what she needs with that at a pool, but like with most women I meet, I've learned not to ask to many questions.

The most interesting thing for me, is her swimsuit. Not that it's superbly made or anything, but rather, it's a one piece. The Kotobukiya release (probably one of the very few pieces I don't have too much to bitch about from them) has Saber in a two piece, which appears to be in line with the art in the game itself.

Why is she in a one piece here? Was it a budget thing? Was it to be more family friendly? Did someone just drop the ball?

So many questions left unanswered...
