This one takes me waaayy back.

Back in the 2000s, the Japanese articulated landscape was dominated by two series - Revoltech and Figma. Both still exist to this day, though I can't say I've gotten anything Revoltech recently, though one day soonish that will change.

The Revoltech series started off with mainly mecha from various anime series, and eventually did move on to do actual human characters. One of their first attempts was Saber from Fate/Stay Night.

The set comes with a whopping two swords and a stand.. I mention the stand because there really isn't much else to talk about in the box. While the price wasn't astronomical, it should be noted that while Figmas are technically smaller, they offered many more accessories for about the same prices.

Clearly, a line in the sand had been drawn.. but Kaiyodo did include her invisible sword, something that I don't think I've seen on any GSC offerings, even almost 20 years later.

The art is different, for good reason, as this particular rendition was more from the Manga than any animated source. Reminds me a lot of the proportions my 1 year old has, if I'm being honest.

The articulation is crude, of course, by modern standards but not bad for the time. What was more annoying was the quality of the build and the joints, as things would be just slightly misaligned, which bothered the hell out of me. Most notable would be the torso joint, which would click into position juuuussstt slightly off where I'd like it to be.

The stand.. well, let's just say it isn't any dynamic stand, that's for sure. It barely even registered as being a functional stand and is best left in the box.

I imagine it's probably pretty cheap to find one of these today, given how GSC basically owns the market on high quality Fate figures and statues. It's a nice accent piece in your Fate/Stay Night collection, a reminder of her more humble and less commercialized roots.

Just don't expect any miracles when displaying it.
