Shelf+Roll Cloud Precede a Strong Thunderstorm Passing Over the Gulf of Trieste; Muggia, Trieste, FVG, Italia
30-July-2023, h04.55AM
If it had arrived during the day it would certainly have been easier to photograph, here the necessary 25 seconds of exposure make the sky blurry due to the rapid movement of the clouds, because unfortunately we can deduce the limits of a prosumer in which it is better not to raise the ISO sensitivity.
If it had arrived during the day, however, I would not have been able to photograph it from the coast, as it is full of bathers until the evening and who often stay until it rains on their heads, having the car nearby (which is also a convenience for those photographs thunderstorms at night...).
In any case, one can sense that it is a rather menacing phenomenon, with accessory clouds, such as the Roll Cloud, which almost grazing the sea surface.
Although the sea is calm and there was no wind at the moment of the shot, the storm reached me in less than 6 minutes, for which reason I was only able to take a couple of photos and not of lightning strikes as the cloudy front low altitude hid them.
