The 4 Highest Peaks of the Kamnik and Savinja Alps/Mountain Group "B", Are Visible at the Same Time from Here, at 1450m Altitude; Eisenkappel-Vellach, Steiner Alpen, Austria

28-April-2022: here we are above the Vellacher kotschna/Bela kočna (Cirque), which is the only area of the Kamniško-Savinjske Alpe/Steiner Alpen in Austrian territory (Carinthia traditional region).

The 4 highest peaks (see notes), all located in the Western (right) part of the main chain of the region (the "B" group), are the only ones over 2500m a.s.l. and, like the whole chain, are in Slovenian territory.

From this Austrian area you can see all 4 at the same time, otherwise difficult downstream or more to the East.

The shot was taken just 15 minutes after the end of the last seasonal snowfall at medium altitudes.

It was the result of a weak cold front slipped along the border between Slovenia and Austria and that, by contrast between the colder air from the North and the milder one recalled from the South-West, generated a local squall-line with rather intense and partly unexpected snow showers.

The precipitation core was in Savinja, slightly to the East of this location, with over 30cm/3hrs at 1400m a.s.l., but with temporary snow dusting up to 1100m.
