Gust front (without rain) Crosses the Coastal Karst Plateau: the grass is combed by a temporary furious wind from the North
06-august-2017: This is the END of one of the most intense heat waves af all times, concerning the hydrographic reservoir/watershed of North-Eastern Adriatic sea (45-46° Lat. North!).
The gust front (probably linked and dued to a Mesoscale Convective System/M.C.S. present more to the North) gives the first breath after 10 hot days on all these areas.
Around Trieste Gulf temperature touched 38°C in Trieste City (and in the night between 5 and 6 August the minimum temperature never fell below 30°C), 39°C in Grado City (GO) and in Cervignano del Friuli (UD), Italy, with some thermal peaks that reached 25°C to 850hpas (c.a. 1550m) in the free atmosphere!
Temperature values (45.5° North!) almost comparable to those of La Mecca/Mecca/Makkah (Saudi Arabia, 21.26° North!) in the same period!
On the Coastal Karst Region were 40.4°C in Podnanos (164m a.s.l., Vipava Valley/Valle del Vipacco, Slovenija; at the foot of Nanos mountain dewlap/chain): it is the FIRST TIME that Karst Region exceeds the temperature limit of 40.0 °C; it is an important RECORD in the climatic history of the Region and of the entire South-Western Slovenija.
About Croatia (the most affected by the inexorable african High-Pressure/HP): in Istra, 40-41°C have been reached in many of the internal locations (41°C in Buzet, for exemple!), while in the Kvarner coasts and Islands the 40°C burned the (...generally mild) town of Cres (Cres Island), 41°C in Crikvenica, 39 °C in Senj, 39°C in Bakar and Bakarac ... and many more!!!
For curiosity, the maximum temperature reached in Croatia, unofficially (Private weather station according to WMO), over three days, is +43°C of Golubić village (304m a.s.l.), within the central internal Dalmatia, not far from the border with Western Bosnia I Hercegovina (BiH).
All these locations (IT, SI, HR), from sea level up to 300-400m above sea, have normal maximum temperatures between 27°C and 31 °C, and minimum temperatures between 16°C and 22°C, at this time.
