Whaler caught in a bottle [explored]

When I was 10 years old I got this do-it-yourself "Ship in a bottle" kit under the Christmas Tree. All the parts of the ship (a Whaler) needed to be glued together and painted. The masts of the ship are connected to the deck by way of hinges. So, when the ship was ready I pushed it, masts down, through the neck of the bottle and stuck it into the clay, so artfully put there. Then the exiting bit came, lifting the masts with small threads hanging out of the bottle. And it worked! Also in the bottle, a small vessel and a whale caught with a spear.
I sealed the bottle with cork and lacquer and there it was. Made by me, a ship in a bottle. And all this took place 40 years ago. The ship is still sailing it's own private sea, the whale still trying to outrun it's fate.
