Bikes In Strange Places

Seen in the middle of Reykjavik town centre, hanging above Laugarvegur, the main shopping street.

 

It reminded me of two things: firstly, the film E.T., which made me cry when I was a child, and still does (I'm so ashamed to admit this in public!); and secondly, this piece of Glaswegian territorial marking – have Icelanders moved on from shoes to bikes?!
