Jellyfish Ornaments

This set of four block printed ornaments depicting jellyfish is fit for your wunderkammer, your cabinet of curiosities. This set is part of the selection of specimens from Natural History which are hand-printed onto fabric, hand-sewn on a backing fabric and suspended from a ribbon. Each specimen is a relief print, carved in linoleum. Celebrate your love of science this holiday season!

Clockwise from the top right of the top photo, the jellyfish are: the narcomedusa, the tubularid hydroid, the discomedusa and the comb jelly.

My jellyfish ornaments were inspired by the scientific illustrations of famed German biologist Ernst Haeckel (1834 to 1919). His book "Kunstformen der Natur" (Artforms in Nature) helped foster the Victorian mania for cabinets of curiosity and palour microsopy.

The ornaments range from about 5 to 6 inches (14 to 16 cm) in size.
