Hand-Held Harpy Linocut

This is a hand-pulled print of a 4" by 4" lino block I carved. I had a certain multimedia project in mind (the results of which are currently being shown in Nagoya, Japan). But, I thought I would print a (very) limited edition on Japanese kozo paper.

 

I am fascinated by legendary composite creatures. The harpy has such negative connotations, so I wanted to reclaim the idea- making the harpy less threatening by playing with scale.
