Gong-ji in red on palest green.

This is an original lino block print in black water-based block printing ink on Japanese kozo (or mulberry) paper. It is the tenth in my Chinese zodiac series. The Chinese characters 'gong-ji' denote the rooster. People born in the Year of the Rooster are supposed to be keenly observant, tenacious, brave, though perhaps overly romantic fashionistas.

The Year of the Rooster begins after Chinese New Year in 1909, 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005 and 2017.

Roosters say France to me, so I decided to try Provencale colours.
