Ladybug Ladybird pin
I've never understood why the Coccinellidae beetles have these two names: the ladybug or the ladybird. However, perhaps because I'm from Canada, "ladybug" seems more natural for a pretty little beetle, who is distinctly not a bird.
Regardless of how they are called, they are recognized as friends to gardeners and a symbol of good luck!
This little ladybug is a linocut, approximately 1.5" or 3 cm long, printed in black ink on orange raw silk. It is backed with fuchsia fabric with a pinback, so you can wear this luck ladybird where ever you go.
