Jack

All to often when a dog comes from a shelter their history is unknown. I do believe if you listen hard enough they will tell you their story.

 

Such is the case with Jack. He was found running the streets of rural Georgia and brought to a high kill shelter. Sadly and all to often no one ever came looking for him. When I saw his “mug shot” posted online, I knew he had something to say.

 

He arrived on Friday night, was unloaded from the freedom bus and promptly curled up and fell fast asleep in the passenger seat in my car. His story could wait. Saturday morning he stood watching the other 5 dogs here running and playing. We took him to the bay and the creek. He stood and watched. It soon became apparent he didn’t know how to play.

 

While I don’t believe he was abused, beaten or starved, I do believe he was neglected. Perhaps his story is much like many others. As a pup he was loved and cherished, taught manners and was treated as one of the family, but as he aged and the novelty of having a puppy grow old.
