Squirrel

This is a gray squirrel - or a grey squirrel, if you like. I am uploading it for my friend, Ann. Ann has names for the squirrels that visit her garden. She also has great pictures of them and is certainly worth a visit!

I, on the other hand, don't give them names. Well, in fact, I do. However the names don't bear repeating and would probably get me deleted from Flickr. In polite circles, this one is called "Nuisance".

He visits the tree in front of my dining room window quite regularly and looks longingly at the bird feeders that hang in front of the window. He sometimes tries to jump over to the feeders. He always lands on the ground. Sometimes he goes up on the roof and tries to slide down the aircraft cable that secures the bird feeders. He always slides very smartly past the bird feeders and lands on the ground.

I keep hoping that, one day, I will look out the window and see an ever increasing mound of squirrel carcasses on the ground under the window. So far, all I see are teeny tiny little footprints.. But we all need hobbies - especially in the winter during income tax season.
