“Concrete Jungle”

During WWII Sheffield was bombed quite a lot, mostly due to our steelworks being major targets. After the war (as with a lot of Britain) there was extensive redevelopment, often with structures being erected with a concrete shell.

In Sheffield a fair bit of these 1950s/1960s buildings have gone as they effectively had a limited ‘shelf life’. They weren’t designed to stand the test of time, though some remain.

Most ugly today.
