A spaceship has landed.

. . . Or so it must have seemed when Bamber Bridge Motor Services new Leyland Atlantean put in its first appearence at Preston during 1963. Ok, Ribble were probably running some similar buses in the town at the time, but not in anything like as spectacularly good and eyecatching a livery as this.

Weymann bodied semi-lowbridge PDR1 2295 TE was new to the firm as their No.7 in early 1963 but was acquired by Ribble with the BBMS business about four years later.

This was another of those B&W photos I bought last year which originated with the erstwhile Bus & Coach trade magazine. It was probably used in a contemporary article when the bus was new. It was taken amongst the care worn surroundings of 1960s Preston.
