Contrasting Leopards.
This photo comes from the PMT Archive and is another of those publicity shots depicting the year's new deliveries. Both vehicles are by this time standard NBC type fayre Leyland Leopards. Facelift Duple Dominant 1 XBF 55S on the left wears NBC 'Local Coach' livery, whilst Dominant II bodied GRF 268V on the right, in National white, is obviously intended for more coach like work. In practice though both types would occasionally do the opposite's work.
These Leopards were infinitely more well liked than their similar Dominant 1 bodied predecessors as they had power steering. Tales abound that the M/N registered examples had the heaviest unassisted steering many drivers had experienced.
The photo has the folly castle of Mow Cop as a backdrop. Not sure that you could even access this point with a bus nowadays.
