Where was I?

When you're young and your mind is sharp, you have this unshakable belief that you will always remember every detail of life. Needless to say old age proves otherwise!

I had always assumed that I'd taken this photo on the outskirts of Torquay in the Broadsands area. My memory wasn't helped by the fact that it was probably some thirty years after taking it that I actually got to view it in anything but negative form.

My suspicions were aroused by the service number and destination. The Torbay area open top services were (as far as I can make out) all double digits with letter suffixes. Now the only 'Pendennis Pl' I can see on maps of the SW is in Penzance, and tbh, it doesn't look to be open top bus service territory.

The famed Devon General 'Sea Dog' convertable Atlanteans were dispersed throughout the Western National operating area in later years, making apperances not only in their native Devon, but in Weymouth, Falmouth, Penzance and St. Ives that I recall. The service number here appears to fit in with those in the Penzance area, even if the properties look very Broadsands!

Another of my colourised offerings.
