West Riding Swift
Combining so many of my interests old and new here. I've always loved what's widely acknowledged to be Britain's first real generation of rear engined single deckers. My favourites of those being the AEC Swift and the Daimler Roadliner. (yes, I've operated both with great success). I've always appreciated good quality photos of the latter and now I'm enjoying colourising some which are in original form black and white. This was another of those acquired last weekend and being a half plate print, quality of the original was good as a base to work from.
In shot we have one of West Riding Automobile's small batch of Marshall bodied AEC Swifts, JHL 819E. What a fleet that was in this era, also possessing Guy Wulfrunians, Daimler Roadliners, Bristol REs and Leyland Panthers!
Not sure if the intending lady passenger has nicked the bus stop poll?!
