Who needs anti-rollbars?

Today I spent a little cash on several old large format publicity photos. I couldn't resist this one, and being large format I felt it deserved the better reproduction Flickr offers over and above the book of face and such like.

This was apparently part of the testing undertaken relating to Plaxton's new Viewmaster body ('highbridge' Supreme) in 1977. Needless to say, its being carried out on a test track where the driver is putting the PSU5 Leopard through its paces whilst the NSF passengers seem to be having the time of their lives!

It has to be said that this is the time when trusty old chassis like the Leopard (built without anti-rollbars and plodder of a non-turbocharged engine) were beginning to be found wanting. Whilst its whizzing around here, a full load on a motorway incline would have it down to a very pedestrian crawl. The gate was being left open for higher powered foreign imports.

The coach in the picture was one of Manchester based Tatlock's Coaches who used the tern 'Scenicruiser' alongside the fleetname on these.
