Kidsgrove Town Service, Coalpit Hill.
A picture taken about twenty five years ago from a point roughly where the bus in the previous posting is passing, looking in the direction of where I was standing as I took it. Coalpit Hill was originally part of what we now refer to as the A34, but in deference to horse traction, Newcastle Road in the foreground was a new cut engineered by Thomas Telford to by-pass the steep hill. The bus shelter on the right marks the former terminus of PMT bus services to Talke where there was once a reversing manoeuvre performed onto some rough ground. Stonier's Kidsgrove Town Service was a late addition to the company's network, and ironically is the only service which survives to this day under contract to Staffs CC. though the company closed in 1987.
The Ex Greater Manchester Seddon Midi is XVU 334M, the regular bus.
