Chester comparison

With the end of their beloved Fleetline chassis imminent, Chester City Transport had to jump ship in much the same way they had done after the cessation of Guy's Arab. Chester's then chosen direction was the recently introduced Dennis Dominator which promised to be something similar. Over the years, they collected many variants of the type, new, second hand, double and single decks. Here Northern Counties bodied No 109, KLG 109V undergoes a crew change at the City's Bus Exchange in the company of a similarly bodied Daimler (Leyland) Fleetline SDM 98V. Personally, I thought that the grille on these and other similar DDs with a front mounted radiators disfigured this wonderfully attractive body. The picture would have been taken circa 1986.
