Odd man out.

I've always had something of a liking for 'odd ball' buses, and late survivors etc, so not unreasonably, A102 RGE is no exception.

Our calling point was the premises of large independent Liddell of Auchinleck, where we met fellow 'Flickrirte' 'Preselected' for a chat, and joint visit. Amongst the large number of well presented double decker and single decker buses and coaches was this Dennis Dorchester with Alexander's TE bodywork which had been new to Central SMT in 1984. The Dorchester, Dennis's competing offering comparable to Leyland's Tiger was never so plentiful, but really was well built in a heavy duty sense. Powered by a mid mounted horizontal Gardner 6HLXCT diesel, they were usually coupled to a Voith fully automatic Gearbox. Few survive nowadays, and I suppose that this one perhaps wouldn't have done had it not found a new role being upseated as a high capacity school bus.
