JS at rest.

Waiting to be loaded at what would nowadays be referred to as a 'virtual coal mine', or stockpile in old money, is one of the Sandaoling systems JS class 2-8-2s. Nowhere near as plentiful as their smaller SY brethren, the JSs have become my favourite Chinese steam locomotives. The type were built for industrial and also Main line service, and could be found with or without smoke deflectors. I'm not too sure why it was considered necessary to have all the cowling around the chimney though on the majority of the class (and all those here). As I've previously mentioned, deliveries of these continued throughout, and to the end of the 1980s.
