Overstretched Gash.

Traditional East Midlands Independent, W. Gash of Newark went into a frenzied overdrive with the opportunities afforded it by deregulation. To meet the demand for buses, many second hand purchases were made with even AEC Routemasters entering the fleet. Gash had, in the not to distant past, been famous in enthusiast circles for it's prolonged operation of very elderly Daimler half cab double deckers. Latterly though, it's 'bus' requirements had been met by Leyland products, particularly the Leopard. Here, ex Greater Manchester Park Royal bodied Fleetline, XJA 542L marks a brief return to Daimler products. The bus is seen on Newark bus station, still wearing it's former owners livery with temporary Gash fleetnames. I don't know whether it ever received fleet colours, though the demise of the business followed shortly afterwards.
