Hotbed of competition.
The North Wales coastline four or five miles either side of Rhyl became the unlikely scene of bus operator competition for a brief period in the mid 1990's. What made the situation more unusual was the vehicles chosen for it by the challenger, KD Coaches, they were ex London Transport AEC Routemasters... though via other operators. Here LDS 341A negotiates the clock tower roundabout on Rhyl promenade after a heavy downpour. At the time of my visit, the elderly RMs appeared well presented, but one could only wonder just how long it could be sustained for.
