Pulling away Swiftly.

The location is Leeds bus station, the bus is a former Corporation Roe bodied AEC Swift, SUB 444G. I've already posted a shot of one of these, but I liked them so much, here's another! By the time that this shot was taken circa 1980, bodybuilders Charles H Roe of Leeds, and Park Royal were under the common ownership of British Leyland. Looking at the lines of this body, it's possible to see something of a family resemblance with the slightly later London Country RP class... excluding the front panel. Windscreens were interchangeable, in fact they went on to be fitted to some later Roe bodied Olympians. Leeds City Transport specified the beefier AEC AH691 (11.3 litre) engines in their later Swifts such as this. By the time that this picture was taken, the bus was wearing the colours of LCT's successor, West Yorkshire PTE.
