Competition in Wrexham

In the immediate post 'Deregulation' years, competition was hot in the Wrexham area. Crosville, the incumbent operator suddenly faced onslaughts on many fronts. Chief amongst their oppressors at the time was rapidly expanding local independent, Wright's of Pen-y-Cae.

Whilst Wright's did indeed have their own blue based livery, this second hand MCW bodied Bristol VR from West Midlands PTE certainly wasn't wearing it. A few appropriate stickers were deemed sufficient to identify JOV 722P to prespective passengers.

On the subject of stickers / decals, I'm more than a little amused by those above the windscreen on the Crosville (Wales) Olympian next to the VR as they appear to have a somewhat surreal appearance to them and almost look like they've been added to the photo at a later date!
