Ex Ulsterbus Bristol RE - Lough Swilly.
In slightly less un-usual surroundings to my picture of one in Kidsgrove, England, here's an Ulsterbus RE which went to work just over the border in the Irish Republic. Several of the type were picked by the erstwhile railway company, Lough Swilly to act primarily as school buses, and very attractive they looked too when freshly outshopped thus.
At the time, I was in Co. Donegal on bus business, and was 'tipped off' about a mass gathering and departure in the afternoon from Carndonagh High School. Making the effort to be there at the correct time proved to be well worth the effort as the massed 'voices' of REs Leopards and Lynxes filled the air.
The school staff were 'on the ball', we'd been there less than two minutes before we were accosted as to our photographic intentions!
