What a waste!

In the summer of 1978, at the rear of Bournemouth Transport's wonderful Mallard Road premises stood these withdrawn Daimler Roadliners. Being new in 1969, they hadn't achieved ten years in service and appeared pristine. Members of the previous year's delivery were lined up within the garage with a couple serviceable. In reality, the only one which saw anything like regular usage was KRU 55F, the solitary Perkins V8 re-engined example. The remainder retained their Cummins V6 200 (VIM) engines. NRU 60G and it's sisters, good looking service buses, were bodied by Willowbrook. I'm not sure if any went for further service, but those in the picture all seemed to have been stripped of a different part or two instead of cannibalising only one bus. I've seen reports which list 55F as being 'preserved', though I've never had this confirmed or seen photos of it as such.
