Seddon Supreme
Since first seeing this coach many years ago when it was really quite new, it's always enthused me. Back in 1980 I had encountered OPP 222P parked on the coach park (former M&GNR railway station) at Great Yarmouth when in the ownership of Sworders of Walkern. The additional stainless steel bling and air horns set it apart from the crowd, even the tongue in cheek Atkinson badge added something. 40ft (12m) Seddon Pennine VIIs weren't that common either neither were the colours used in its livery so all in all, very definitely something different.
The coach lasted with Sworders for quite some time, being mothballed for many a year following withdrawal from operational duties. More recently it passed through the hands of Go Goodwins in Manchester, but it now lives with famed Yorkshire Dales operator Bibby's of Ingleton... who were at one time no stranger to coach bling themselves.
The picture was taken yesterday at the close of festivities at the Kirkby Stephen event during a brief visit from the sun.
