Derby City Transport AEC Reliance.
When as teenage bus enthusiasts we heard that Derby City Transport had acquired a batch of new AEC Reliances, we knew that we'd have to visit and see as such a report was to us almost un-believable! Ok, so Daimler, their current supplier were no longer making coaches, but it was strange choice for a municipal, AEC and coaches. I believe all except one were 'grant coaches', the exception being 9P which was to full coach spec. They were AEC Reliance 760 (12.47litre) 6U2R (semi-automatics) with Plaxton Supreme III Express bodies. NNN 11P is seen here when about four years old on a private hire at Chester (was it the 'Little Roo Dee' coach park?) What I could never have realised was that in later life I'd end up operating 9P, which I think still clings to life by it's fingernails now owned by a friend of mine though not in use.
