The old slate mining community of Bethesda, up in the valleys above Bangor was the home of Purple Motors. The fleet had long been a draw for the enthusiast fraternity due to their use of elderly service saloons such as this Leyland Tiger Cub with East Lancs bodywork. 389 JTD had been new to a Lancashire municipal fleet, but which one, I'm not quite sure. It still carries its classic 'Tiger Cub badge', no cheesy stickers in those days, manufacturers were proud of their products. The bus is pictured here waiting at Bangor (N.Wales) bus station.
