Call The Midwife, RTL554 KGU 4, 17th May 2015.
In hot pursuit of RT1700 was this lovely restored RTL554. Passing the church yard of Eynsford village. The blinds all in UPPER CASE give this a real 50s look not to mention a "Call The Midwife" look, well that's my take on it for what it's worth, as the east end names are quite apt.
Doing some research just now on RTL554 made me smile, as an early bus enthusiast memory of going to see the RT50 (50 years) event at Covent Garden in 1989 as a boy with my Dad. The reason I remember the event is because I asked Dad why the bus has painted out areas on the blinds. Dad told me it was due to post war when they couldn't afford to have all blinds showing. Well to a 7 year old that's probably about all I could have understood but RTL554 stood there blinded (partially) as a route 25. I shall have to see if I can dig out my 1989 photos. It is always nice to see buses with personal meaning re-enter my life. Hopefully I'm not alone in thinking that.
