Wittenberg Mountain [Instagram]

Catskills, NY (3/11/16) - Of course I'd forget my gloves today of all days when the temperature was teetering around the negatives. Improvisation was in order so I used my backup socks instead which insulated my hands enough to get me through the hike. Wittenberg mountain is the 3rd highest vertical climb in the Catskills and as such we knew this was no walk in the park. The wintry semi white out conditions at the top was gorgeous though as with anything worth seeing, you do have to earn it first. Stopped short of Cornell mountain due to numb/frozen toes but I take comfort in the fact that this will hardly be the last winter hike we'll ever do.
