Rice River

A different view of the Rice River in the Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge is located south of McGregor, MN in the Glacial Lake Aitken peatlands, a large flat peatland that filled in the basin of Glacial Lake Aitken. Aitken was a pro-glacial lake that formed in north central Minnesota during the last glacial retreat. The retaining wall is part of a water control structure that helps keep the water levels in Rice Lake at a suitable level.
