Open Spruce Bog
A fairly open part of the bog surrounding Spring Lake in northern Minnesota. These black spruce trees have shallow roots in peat and therefore can be easily blown over or tilted. New growth will reorient and grow vertically, forming a bent or curved trunk, as can be seen in a couple of the trees in this image.
