Golden Hills

This is a companion view to the next image in the photostream. The silty and clayey hills to the east of Salt Creek Marsh vary from lifeless gray to gold or reddish gold in color. The darker red sediments at the horizon line are "fanglomerates", loosely consolidated conglomerates formed from the alluvial fan sediments that make up much of Death Valley.

I love the rounded forms of these hills.
