Looking Back
The hills to the east of Salt Creek Marsh in Death Valley are composed of uplifted and eroded silts and clays. They have high salt content and are almost entirely barren of vegetation.
This photo was taken from one of those hills looking back down the wash towards Salt Creek Marsh (the thin reddish-orange strip) and beyond to the Panamint Mountains.
